Komikon Summer Bayanihan 2011 Indie Komiks Tiange Registration

First 40 groups/individuals to register will be allowed to sell their comics at the event. By registering make sure that you will definitely be there and selling. We don’t want to waste space on people who register but don’t show up. Please note that we have some new rules for this year’s indie comics tiange.

Indie Komiks Tiange registration process

Terms to be considered:

  • Registration will be done by completing an online registration form. (required)
  • Individuals and group members are required to buy pre-sold tickets at designated locations. More details to be provided later. (required)
  • Image files of the covers must be sent via email to Komikon after the online registration. (required)
  • It is recommended that your covers indicate for what age group it is appropriate (GP – General Patronage, PG 13 – Parental Guidance for 13 years and below, R – Mature audience only). (optional)
  • If you wish to include the official Summer Komikon logo on your cover, please email us at indies[@]komikon.org and we will send them to you or you may download here (optional).
  • Official comics websites (or personal websites if no official comics website), should add a link or banner image link to www.komikon.org. Details will be provided through email. (required)
  • Please come 1 hour before the event starts to set up. Upon arrival, all individuals and members must sign in at the Komikon booth, and present their comics and merchandise that will be sold for inspection. (required)
  • To avoid crowding, ONLY ONE(1) PERSON per group can be seated in the indie tiange area (this will be strictly implemented). (required)
  • The organizers have the authority to accept and/or deny applications for indie tiange.
  • 10% OF PARTICIPANTS’ TOTAL SALES WILL BE COLLECTED. Everyone must sign out at the Komikon booth. Penalties will be given for those who do not sign out. (required)

RULES:

  • Komikon Indie KOMIKS  Tiange is for selling comics – original or fanfics.
  • Merchandise will be allowed, ONLY IF, it is based on your own original comics’ creation/characters.
  • Any other merchandise will not be allowed. Unauthorized items will be confiscated by a Komikon representative.
  • Individuals/groups found to have violated the terms and conditions will be subject to penalties the organizers deem necessary.
  • Selling of indies will be confined to the indie space. Don’t go around hawking you wares around some other groups. We have received reports that some groups do this. If I receive any reports or complaints of this, you will be dealt with accordingly.

Examples of items that will be allowed:

  • Original comics that you (or your group) created using your own original characters.
  • Doujin/fan-made comics that you (or your group) created based on other characters as drawn by you with your own interpretation;
  • Non-comics merchandise (like pins, bookmarks, etc) made by you (or your group) based on your original characters from your original comics

Examples of items that WILL NOT be allowed:

  • Pornographic comics and non-comics merchandise depicting child/children
  • Non-comics merchandise (like pins, bookmarks, etc) based on your fan made comics
  • Non-comics merchandise (like pins, bookmarks, etc) based on established comics/anime/movie/etc characters that you do not own

Comic Creation Contest Summer 2011

Comic Creation Contest Summer 2011 Logo

This year’s theme is: EPIC ADAPTATION

Create a comic based on any FILIPINO EPIC STORY. (Ibalong, Lam-ang, Aliguyon, etc…[link])

Rules:

  • Contest is open to all comic book artists except for professionals with published works sold in bookstores.
  • Contestants / groups are limited to only one entry.
  • Entries submitted by groups are required to submit the names of the individuals involved in creating the indie. Group entries with professionals on board are automatically disqualified.
  • Entries should adhere to the given theme. Entries deviating from the theme shall be automatically disqualified.
  • Submit 3 copies of your entry via air mail to:

  • Deadline of submissions will be on APRIL 1, 2011. Entries submitted beyond APRIL 1 shall not be accepted.
  • Winners shall be announced on the event itself on April 16 and shall be notified via e-mail or phone.
  • The judge’s decision is final.

Entries should be in the form of a comic book with the following specifications:

  • Make a summary of the chosen epic.
  • 8.5 X 6.5 (long bond paper, folded, and stapled twice in the middle)
  • Entries should be placed in a short brown envelope with their name, address, phone number, and e-mail written legibly at the upper left hand corner.
  • Stories must be 4 to 12 pages long (excluding cover)
  • Please note that entries are non-returnable. Entries should be reproductions only. (originals will not be returned)
  • Colored and/or black and white entries are accepted.
  • There are no restrictions as to the genre or art style that can be used as long as the comic book follows the given theme.
  • The story should be in the form of a one-shot title. It should be whole in itself, with a clear beginning, middle, and end. Multiple comic stories in a single entry (anthology) will not be allowed.

BY BUS:

Option 1
-Ride any bus going to EDSA.
-Get off at BONI, Robinson’s Mall Pioneer.
-Ride a tricycle at the mall’s terminal. Ask to be brought to Bayanihan Center (near Pioneer Center)

Option 2
-Ride any bus going to Crossing Ibabaw.
-Get off at Crossing/EDSA Central and walk towards Shaw Boulevard.
-Ride a jeep going to Pasig until you see Tropical Hut / 10Q.
-Ride a tricycle going to Bayanihan Center or take a walk along the sidewalk.

-Make a U-Turn to Shaw Blvd.
-Go straight and turn right when you see Tropical Hut / 10Q (Pioneer Street).
-Look for Bayanihan Center to your right.

(FROM NORTH OF EDSA Option 2)
-From EDSA go to Ortigas flyover (Robinson’s Galleria).
-Turn right at Meralco Ave.
-Turn right at Dona Julia Vargas.
-Turn left at San Miguel Avenue (to Lourdes School, Mandaluyong).
-Turn left at Shaw Blvd.
-Turn right when you see Tropical Hut / 10Q. You have now reached Pioneer Street.
-Look for Bayanihan Center on your right side.

*Paid Parking is available at the Bayanihan Center, and at Pioneer Grill and Pioneer Center across the street.

Sulyap Launch At Powerbooks

Pasasalamat Para sa Komikon 2010

So it’s been two days after the successful Komikon 2010 and we, the organizers, have just gotten around to going online and updating our statuses and websites. For everyone who went to Komikon 2010, we all thank you from the bottom of our hearts. All the hard work and pain that we put into preparing for each event is worth it whenever we hear that the people, both attendees and exhibitors, have enjoyed Komikon. We do acknowledge that a lot of improvements still need to be done, and we know that with all of your help, and continued support, we will be able to do so.
