Summer Komikon 2012 Sizzles this May 26

Metro Manila, 30 April 2012 – Summer is not complete without Summer Komikon 2012, the hottest and yet coolest Filipino comics convention in the country.

Come join us on May 26, 2012 from 10am to 7pm at the Bayanihan Center, Pioneer St. Pasig City for this must-attend komiks event. As it is 2012, this year’s theme is “Wakasan”, which is a challenge against the end of the dying or dead comics industry. It’s time for everyone to pitch in and breathe life to proudly made Filipino comics. This fourth consecutive Summer Komikon is a spin-off from the longer running Annual Philippine Komiks Convention (Komikon) held every last quarter of the year since 2005.

More Fun in Summer Komikon 2012 Contest

Do you want to attend the Summer Komikon 2012 for FREE?

Then join the “More Fun in Summer Komikon 2012” Contest! Here’s how.

1) Create your own More fun in Summer Komikon image using photos/drawings that you have (Please use images that you have the right to use only).

Add the Summer Komikon 2012 logo AND the text “whatever your catch word/phrase is>, it’s more fun in KOMIKON” anywhere on your image.

2) Go to http://www.facebook.com/events/274902389238661/ and click on “JOIN” at the upper left corner.

3) Click on Share photo to upload your file. Make sure to put this in the description:

4) Make sure to select the link going to the Summer Komikon 2012 events page by putting the @ in the beginning.

5) Click on the uploaded image and Tag your name (as the creator) and the official Komikon page (http://www.facebook.com/komikon.org) where the Summer Komikon 2012 logo is.

6) The creator of the top 3 images that have the most number of ‘likes’ will get a complimentary pass to Summer Komikon 2012.

7) The creator of the top 3 images that have the most number of ‘shares’ will get a complimentary pass to Summer Komikon 2012.

8) The Komikon Committee may choose to award special awards to the most creative image.

Guidelines:

-Anyone can join!

-Images can be added starting March 1 to April 30, 2012.

-Only like and shares from March 1 to April 30, 2012 will be counted.

-The image should be visible on your wall to the public.

-A person can only win up to a maximum of two times.

-Winners will be notified via their Facebook account and tickets must be claimed  no later than 12 noon of May 12, 2012 at the Bayanihan Center, Pasig City, or it will be forfeited.

-By posting your images, you are allowing Komikon and it’s organizers to use your image and name for any promotional means.

-Unauthorized use of other people’s image/photos will be subject to disqualification.

-Komikon Committee’s decisions in all matters are final.

World Book and Copyright Day Celebration 2012

Join us this Sunday, April 22, 2012 from 9am to 5pm at the Planas Garden in the Quezon Memorial Circle for Summer Slam! Don’t know how to get to Planas Garden? Enter via the underpass located in Philcoa then head towards the Quezon Memorial; the garden is to the left. Those with vehicles may also enter through the Philcoa entrance.

Summer Slam! is in celebration of World Book and Copyright Day, organized by the National Book Development Board and Intellectual Property Offices of the Philippines. Join us for free and be educated and entertained with poetry and musical performances, storytelling and more!

Komikon together with creators from our Sulyap Komiks Anthology and Summer Komikon 2012 guest, Freely Abrigo will be there to give you an advance taste of Summer Komikon 2012 on May 26, 2012.

Ang pagpapalista para sumali sa Indie Tiangge ay sarado na!!!

All registrants should wait for their confirmation email and accomplish the requirements asked by that email to confirm their slots at the Indie Tiangge. Thank you for all the eager registrants that filled up the 30 slots and waitlist in record time.

Ang mga nagpalista ay dapat maghintay sa confirmation email na ipadadala at kumpletuhin ang mga hinihingi nito upang kumpirmahin ang kanila pwesto sa Indie Tiangge. Maraming salamat sa mga nagpalista at napuno kaagad ang ating mga pwesto maging ang ating waitlist.


By registering make sure that you will definitely be there and selling. We don’t want to waste space on people who register but don’t show up. Please note that we have some new rules for this year’s indie komiks tiange.

Sa pagpapalista, siguraduhin na ikaw ay makakapunta at talagang makakapagbenta. Sayang ang pina-reserve mo na slot kung hindi ka pupunta. Basahin ang kumpletong panuntunan sa pagsali sa indie komiks tiange ngayong taon.

Indie Komiks Tiange registration process

Terms to be considered (Mga Panuntunan):

  • Registration will be done by completing an online registration form. Ang pagpapalista ay kailangang gawin sa pamamagitan ng online registration form. (required)
  • Individuals and group members are required to buy pre-sold tickets at designated locations. More details to be provided later. Ang mga mapipili ay kailangang bumili ng tiket para sa summer komikon bago ang araw ng event. Ipapahayag ang iba pang detalye sa susunod. (required)
  • Image files of the covers must be sent via email to Komikon after the online registration. Kailangang ipadala sa pamamagitan ng email ang image file ng mga covers pagkatapos ng online registration. (required)
  • It is recommended that your covers indicate for what age group it is appropriate. Iminumungkahi na ilagay ng malinaw sa cover ang tamang patnubay sa mambabasa. (GP – General Patronage, PG 13 – Parental Guidance for 13 years and below, R – Mature audience only). (optional)
  • If you wish to include the official Komikon logo on your cover, please email us at indies[@]komikon.org and we will send them to you or you may download logo1, logo2, logo3. Kung nais na ilagay ang opisyal na Komikon logo sa inyong cover, magpadala ng email sa indies[@]komikon.org or maaaring i download mula sa mga sumusunod: logo1, logo2, logo3 (optional).
  • Official comics websites (or personal websites if no official comics website), should add a link or banner image link to www.komikon.org. Details will be provided through email. Kinakailangan maglagay ng banner image na naka link sa www.komikon.org galing sa opisyal na website or personal na website. Ang mga image ay ipapadala sa pamamagitan ng email pagkatapos mag pa rehistro. (required)
  • At least one representative is required to attend the Event Briefing on May 19, 2012 at the Bayanihan Center. Isa o higit pang kinatawan ay kailangan dumalo sa Pormal na Pagpupulong sa Mayo 19, 2012 sa Bayanihan Center. (required)
  • There will be a designated time for setting up. Latecomers will not be allowed to sell. Upon arrival, all individuals and members must sign in at the Komikon booth, and present their comics and merchandise that will be sold for inspection. Mayroon nakatakdang oras sa pag-aayos. Ang mga mahuling dumating ay hindi papayagang mag-ayos pa at magbenta. Pag dating sa umaga, lahat ng kasali ay kailangan mag-sign in sa Komikon booth, ipakita ang mga ibebenta para mailista at ma-inspeksyon. (required)
  • To avoid crowding, ONLY ONE(1) PERSON per group can be seated in the indie tiange area (this will be strictly implemented). Para hindi magulo at masikip, ISANG TAO LAMANG bawat grupo ang maaaring maupon sa mesa ng indie tiangge. (required)
  • The organizers have the authority to accept and/or deny applications for indie tiange. Nasa mga taga-organisa ng Komikon ang pag tanggap o pag tanggi sa mga gustong sumali.
  • 10% OF PARTICIPANTS’ TOTAL SALES WILL BE COLLECTED. Everyone must sign out at the Komikon booth. Penalties will be given for those who do not sign out. 10% ng kabuuang benta ang kokolektahin ng Komikon. Lahat ay kailangan mag sign-out sa Komikon booth. Maaring patawan ng multa sa mga hindi sumunod. (required)

RULES:

  • Komikon Indie KOMIKS Tiange is for selling your own-made comics – original or fanfics.
  • Merchandise will be allowed, ONLY IF, it is based on your own original comics’ creation/characters.
  • Any other merchandise will not be allowed. Unauthorized items will be confiscated by a Komikon representative.
  • Individuals/groups found to have violated the terms and conditions will be subject to penalties the organizers deem necessary.
  • Selling of indies will be confined to the indie space. Don’t go around hawking you wares around some other groups. We have received reports that some groups do this. Transgressors will be dealt with accordingly.
  • Please respect other indie tiangge participants, exhibitors, sponsors and attendees’ space and privacy.
  • Indie tiange participants, their group mates and friends are responsible for the safety and security of their inventory and belongings at all times. Komikon, the venue, partners and suppliers can not be held liable for any untoward incidents outside the organizers’ control.

Examples of items that will be allowed:

  • Original comics that you (or your group) created using your own original characters.
  • Doujin/fan-made comics that you (or your group) created based on other characters as drawn by you with your own interpretation;
  • Non-comics merchandise (like pins, bookmarks, etc) made by you (or your group) based on your original characters from your original comics

Examples of items that WILL NOT be allowed:

  • Pornographic comics and non-comics merchandise depicting child/children
  • Non-comics merchandise (like pins, bookmarks, etc) based on your fan made comics
  • Non-comics merchandise (like pins, bookmarks, etc) based on established comics/anime/movie/etc characters that you do not own
  • Display items that are too big or encroach on other people’s space.
